About Us

We believe the individual impact of football players cannot be measured by vanity metrics like goals, passes, tackles won or possession. Real team players influence besides their own metrics especially their team members, their opponents and as a final output the game result directly and indirectly. This is what Football GAP is about.

Game Review

In a thrilling Bundesliga encounter, Werder Bremen and Eintracht Frankfurt played out a 3-3 draw at the Weserstadion on Friday, 16 January 2026. The match was a rollercoaster of emotions, with both teams exchanging blows in a game that saw six goals shared equally. The game started with a bang as Arnaud Kalimuendo put Eintracht Frankfurt ahead in the very first minute. However, Werder Bremen responded in the 29th minute through Justin Njinmah (GAP -2.8%), leveling the score. The second half saw Nnamdi Collins (GAP +4.0%) restore Frankfurt's lead in the 56th minute, only for Bremen to stage a late comeback. Jens Stage (GAP +1.7%) equalized in the 78th minute, and Jovan Milosevic, a substitute, gave Bremen the lead just two minutes later. The drama continued as Ansgar Knauff, another substitute for Frankfurt, salvaged a point for his team with a 90th-minute equalizer. Tactically, both teams made strategic changes, with Werder Bremen's manager introducing Samuel Mbangula, Keke Topp, and Jovan Milosevic from the bench. Eintracht Frankfurt's head coach responded by bringing on Can Uzun, Ansgar Knauff, and Winther Højlund. These substitutions played a crucial role, particularly Milosevic and Knauff, who both found the back of the net. The Game Advantage Percentage (GAP) statistics highlighted some standout performances. Marco Friedl (GAP +4.2%) and Rasmus Kristensen (GAP +4.1%) were instrumental in their respective defensive lines, while Romano Schmid (GAP +2.6%) and Nathaniel Brown (GAP +2.5%) also contributed significantly to their teams' efforts. This result leaves both teams in a precarious position in the Bundesliga table. Werder Bremen, who have struggled for consistency, will see this as a missed opportunity to climb higher. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt will be relieved to have salvaged a point but will need to tighten their defense to improve their league standing. Overall, the match was a testament to the attacking prowess and resilience of both sides, setting the stage for an intriguing second half of the Bundesliga season.

What is GAP?

What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?

Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.

What is GAP?

GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
